How it works
Drop a document
It is read directly in your browser: no upload, no waiting room, no queue.
Listen right away
Chapters, playback speed and your position are all kept as you go.
Free, unlimited voices
Narration uses the voices already installed on your device: no API key, no quota.
Beyond listening
Listening to a book is good. Remembering it is better.
Most of what you listen to is gone within a couple of days. Lisivo is built to leave something behind: a quiz after each chapter, a sheet you can revise from, a summary you can keep, and the audio itself as a file that is yours.
- Included, free
Read along while you listen
The passage being spoken is highlighted as it goes, so you can follow with your eyes or look away.
- Included, free
Whatever the document is
PDF, EPUB, Word, PowerPoint, OpenDocument, Markdown, plain text, scanned pages, or any web page through the extension.
- Included, free
Nothing leaves your device
The file is opened by your browser. There is no upload endpoint to send it to, which is a claim you can check by pulling the network cable.
- Coming with Pro
A quiz after each chapter
Written, on screen, answered by clicking. Each answer shows the passage it came from, so a wrong one teaches you something.
- Coming with Pro
A revision sheet you can download
The chapter reduced to what you would want the night before an exam, or the morning of a meeting.
- Coming with Pro
Summaries, by chapter or whole
For deciding whether to read the rest, and for remembering a book you finished last month.
- Coming with Pro
Ask your document a question
It answers from the document you gave it, and shows you where in the text the answer came from.
- Coming with Pro
Listen in another language
An English report, narrated in French, with a voice that belongs to the target language.
- Coming with Pro
Download the audio
An audio file you keep, play anywhere, and still have if this site disappears.
- Coming with Pro
A private podcast feed
Your documents appear in Apple Podcasts or Spotify, which is how you get real locked-screen playback.

Studio voices
For a document you will listen to for six hours, where the system voice starts to grate.
Everything marked free runs on your own device and always will. The rest is produced by models that bill per use, which is the only reason it is not free too.
Listening to a PDF, EPUB or DOCX, read aloud in your browser
Lisivo reads your documents aloud in the browser you already have open — PDF, EPUB, DOCX, Markdown or plain text. It pulls the text out of the file, drops the parts that narrate badly (running headers, page numbers, table-of-contents dot leaders, table rows), rejoins words split across lines, and finds the chapters from the document's own typography. What you hear is the prose, not the layout.
Narration uses the speech voices your operating system already ships, which is why it is free and why there is no quota: macOS, Windows, iOS and Android all include English and French voices. Playback behaves like an audiobook: chapters, a speed dial from 0.75× to 2×, fifteen-second jumps, and a position that survives closing the tab.
The file itself never leaves your device. There is no upload endpoint to send it to, no account to create and nothing to pay. Turn the network off after the page has loaded and importing a document still works.
